Continuing education in physical therapy

St. Ambrose University offers courses designed to meet the continuing education requirements for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants in Iowa and Illinois.

Continuing education at St. Ambrose

Continuing education for physical therapists is essential for staying updated on new techniques, research, and technologies. It helps maintain licensure, improve patient outcomes, and advance careers. Ongoing learning ensures physical therapists provide the best care and stay competitive in the evolving healthcare field.

St. Ambrose University's Department of Physical Therapy offers a variety of hands-on, continuing education courses throughout the year.

Open to the public, these courses are designed for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants in Iowa and Illinois. Some courses are also approved for occupational therapists and occupational therapist assistants.

Orthopaedic Course Series

Our manual therapy courses provide advanced-level training for physical therapists in the area of orthopaedics.

These courses will involve lectures, laboratory sessions, pre-course readings and post-course assignments. Course are offered on-site and in conjunction with our orthopaedic physical therapy clinical residency.

Advanced Pediatric Therapeutics Course Series

Our pediatric therapeutics courses are open to professionals in physical therapy and occupational therapy.

Courses are offered on-site with lectures, laboratory sessions, pre-course readings and post-course assignments. These courses are offered in conjunction with our Pediatric Physical Therapy Clinical Residency.

Lunch and learns

St. Ambrose's Department of Physical Therapy also offers four lunch and learns each year. These are one hour presentations offered over the noon hour on a special topic using video conferencing. Presenters include faculty, clinicians, and other healthcare providers. These are offered at no cost to the community and provide continuing education credits.
