What you’ll learn in your Chemistry Teacher Education program

You’ll start by taking foundational courses in science and mathematics. Then, you’ll explore education courses where you’ll build an understanding of learner development, learning differences, and learning environments. When you’re done, you’ll be prepared to become a fully licensed teacher in the State of Iowa.

  • Complete a total of 120 credits, including 42 gen ed credits, 47 total credits in science and mathematics, and 35-41 education credits. 
  • Complete 140 hours of pre-student teaching field experiences at two different school sites, 1 semester of student teaching, and 1 capstone course.
