Welcome to St. Ambrose University! Welcome Week is your introduction to life as an Ambrosian. It's your chance to meet classmates, settle into campus, connect with faculty and staff, and experience the traditions that make St. Ambrose feel like home.
From move-in day through your first week of classes, Welcome Week is filled with opportunities to explore campus and have fun before the semester gets underway. Here's what you can expect.
Welcome to campus
Your college journey officially begins with move-in day. After getting settled into your residence hall, you'll attend Welcome Convocation, meet your classmates, and start building your Ambrose community. Some highlights from this day can include:
- Residence hall move-in
- IT and campus offices open to help with questions
- Access and Disability Services information session
- Welcome Convocation
- Welcome Cookout with families
- Residence hall floor meetings and commuter meeting
- New Student Seminar introduction and Bee-coming Ambrosian overview
- Ice Cream Social
Thursday, Aug. 20: Bee-coming Ambrosian
One of the first traditions you'll experience is Bee-coming Ambrosian, a day dedicated to serving nonprofit organizations throughout the Quad Cities. It's a meaningful way to live out the Ambrose value of service while getting to know your classmates.
After your service project, you'll learn tips for a successful transition to college before ending the evening with a free trip to Iron Tee Golf. Some events from the day are:
- Bee-coming Ambrosian community service
- Transitioning to College session
- Free Iron Tee Golf outing
Saturday, Aug. 22: Settle into campus
Take a break and enjoy one of your first weekends as an Ambrosian with campus entertainment and off-campus activities. Some highlights from the day include:
- Fighting Bee Marching Band Showcase
- Free bowling at Big River Bowling
Sunday, Aug. 23: Get ready for the semester
Before classes begin, take time to find your classrooms, attend Mass, and enjoy one of Welcome Week's biggest traditions. Events of the day include:
- Classroom tours led by Peer Assistants
- Welcome Mass
- Annual Block Party
Monday, Aug. 24: Your first day of classes
The fall semester officially begins! Between classes, there are still plenty of opportunities to get involved and meet new people. Noteworthy events include:
- First day of classes
- Choir placement auditions
- Monday Night Movies with free popcorn
The fun continues all week
Welcome Week doesn't stop after classes begin. Throughout the week, you'll continue discovering campus traditions and meeting fellow Ambrosians. You can look forward to:
