Join Alexandra Hudson, author of The Soul of Civility, and St. Ambrose faculty on Wednesday, September 23, in the Rogalski Center Ballroom for an engaging afternoon exploring how we can listen, disagree, and engage across our differences, without checking our convictions at the door.
Come ready for thoughtful conversation, honest disagreement, and practical ideas for making campus, and our wider world, a little more Ambrosian. All students, faculty, and staff are welcome.

Alexandra Hudson is America’s leading voice on civility and civic renewal. A writer, speaker, and founder of Civic Renaissance, she is known for helping leaders and citizens rediscover how to live well together in a fractured age. Raised to be hospitable and kind, Alexandra’s early experiences in politics revealed how “niceness” can be used as a tool for manipulation — a realization that sparked her lifelong exploration of the deeper meaning of civility. She distinguishes between politeness, which smooths over conflict, and true civility, which honors the dignity of others, even in disagreement. A former federal appointee and nationally recognized commentator, she brings history, philosophy, and moral imagination to modern public life. Through her work, Alexandra invites audiences to embrace civility not as weakness, but as the strength required to build a freer, more humane society.
