Brittany Tullis serves as Associate Provost for Academic Operations and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at St. Ambrose and Mount Mercy, where she is also Professor of Spanish and Latinx Studies. Her mission as a higher education leader is to help create and support welcoming, inclusive, and equitable paths to student success. In her role as Dean, much of her recent work has been focused on student-centered General Education reform, the reimagining of academic programs with a focus on relevancy and sustainability, and equitable and inclusive policy at the departmental, college, and institutional level, particularly as this supports our ongoing strategic combination.
In former roles, including that of Chair of Spanish & Latinx Studies, Interim Director of Women and Gender Studies, and Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Brittany has also led faculty to create innovative new academic programs, to increase access and persistence amongst students, and to think and act boldly about equity and justice.
As a scholar, her published work on transamerican comics and cultural studies appears in Hispanic Issues On Line, the International Journal of Comic Art, and Comics Studies: Here and Now. She is co-editor/contributing author of the 2018 Eisner Award nominee Picturing Childhood: Youth in Transnational Comics as well as a co-coordinator of a special 2020 issue of Mitologías hoy on Latin/x American comics. Brittany has served as Chair of the International Comic Arts ForumExecutive Committee, as President and Past President of the Comics Studies Society, and is a proud alum of the HERS Summer Leadership Institute (Butler 2025), where she was one of four inaugural HERS Mellon Humanities Fellows.
