Undergraduate Projects

Investigating the Effect of Noisy Permeability Distributions on Hyporheic Flow (School Year 2013-2014): In this modeling study we examined the effect of additional variability due to noise on permeability grid cells and how this effects hyporhiec flow. This student presented his research at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research in Lexington Kentucky.

Stream Planform Identification (Summer 2013): We looked into ways of obtaining a detailed outline of a section of Black Hawk Creek using photogrametric and manual methods. Students presented this research at the American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting in San Francisco and at the Fifth Annual Illinois-Iowa ACS Undergraduate Research Conference here at SAU.

Impact on Hyporheic flow of Hydraulic Conductivity variability (Summer 2012): We layered sand in the lab and measured the resulting hydraulic conductivity values and modeled the effect this would have on hyporheic flow. Blog
