It is no doubt that those who have attended St. Ambrose University's wonderful productions over the past couple of years are sure to have had the pleasure of seeing TJ Green on stage.
Green is a senior Theatre Major with a Public Relations Minor, who has been heavily involved in the Theatre Department ever since he was first cast as Caliban in Shakespeare's The Tempest during the fall semester of his freshman year.
During his tenure at St. Ambrose, Green has performed in an outstanding 16 mainstage and studio theatre productions, along with having the opportunity to direct a full production of Speech and Debate. Additionally, as he is a Theatre Major, Green has had to take many theatre classes and shared some insight on which classes have been his favorite throughout the years.
"My favorite class was probably the Musical Theatre class." Green said, "However, while it was challenging, I think the directing class was definitely the most rewarding."
As a Quad Cities native, Green has also had the opportunity to participate in theatre in the community. Some of his most notable roles are Miss Trunchbull in Matilda (at the Spotlight theater in Moline, IL) and Chef Louis in The Little Mermaid (at Quad City Music Guild in Moline, IL). Aside from scripted acting, Green has also performed improvised comedy at Comedysportz in Rock Island, IL.

"My biggest piece of advice is to not compare yourself to other people. Theatre is an inherently competitive art with the nature of auditions, but I think if you look at it through that lens you can develop an unhealthy mindset," Green shared when asked about what advice he would give to an upcoming first-year student. "Work to improve yourself rather than beat out others, because then when others are better than you, it won't be earth shattering."
In regard to post-graduation plans, Green explained that he will be out in the world looking for a job in any way he can. However, he still has one last project with the St. Ambrose Theatre Department before he leaves. Green will be playing the role of Walker in Lee Blessing's Two Rooms, directed by senior Tyler Hughes that will be performed in February.
While he will be missed greatly on the stage, SAU has been incredibly lucky to have him. Wherever Green ends up post-graduation, the Department knows he will be very successful. Luckily, everyone can see him shine on the Allaert stage one last time in the upcoming spring semester.
