Star Party at SAU Observatory

StarsSt. Ambrose University is hosting a star party at the S.G. Menke Observatory near Dixon, Iowa.

Saturday, Aug. 9
Beginning at sunset

A First Quarter moon will be visible and Mars and Saturn will be even lower in the west just after sunset. Jupiter, in the southeastern sky, will be the most prominent planet. The observatory’s on-site telescopes will be available for sky viewing; guests are welcome to bring portable telescopes as well. The star party viewing is free and open to the public.

For more information, contact Assistant Professor of Physics Robert Mitchell at 563/333-6141. On the day of the event, the same number may be called for a recorded message that will either confirm the event or report a weather-related cancellation.
