Ethics and Person-Centered Care Series

Series Overview:

Available until May 31, 2021.

Participants may complete one or both courses. CEU certificates will be sent via email following course completion. To complete each course, you must complete a 1) lecture, 2) quiz and 3) survey included in each course folder. All content must be completed and submitted to receive continuing education credit.

CEU Information:  

This two-course webinar series is worth up to 3.6 CEUS for IL/IA Nurses, OT, PT, SW and meets the required CE for Sexual Harassment in IL.

Course Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

  • Explain the role of universality in the traditional ethical theories
  • Connect the assumptions about traditional ethical theories and their role in moral development
  • Contrast an Ethics of Care strategy from the responses of traditional ethics theories
  • Identify the basic concepts of Ethics of Care
  • Develop a Person-Centered Care approach to an ethical dilemma

Course 2 – Ethics and Sexual Harassment in the Clinic

Course Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

  • Define sexual harassment including identifying and distinguishing quid pro quo and hostile work environment forms of harassment
  • Justify the ethical obligation to avoid sexually harassing behavior and/or to respond to cases of sexual harassment that are experienced or observed.
  • Construct an appropriate response to instances of sexual harassment, both experienced and observed
  • Recognize protections that are extended to those who report instances of sexual harassment in the workplace

CEU Information

Up to 3.6 CEUs available for IL and IA Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy:

  • Course 1 - Ethics of Person-Centered Care (2.0/2.4 CEUs)
  • Course 2 - Ethics and Sexual Harassment in the Clinic - (1.0/1.6 CEUs)

*Note: The Ethics and Sexual Harassment in the Clinic course meets Illinois licensure requirements for Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy.

CEUS for BOTH Courses:

  • IA Nursing: 3.0 contact hours will be awarded by the Iowa Board of Nursing Provider #59, Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, Iowa.
  • IL Nursing: May use IA certificate for license renewal.
  • IA All Others: May be eligible for up to 3.6 hours of continuing education credit. Consult your governing rules to determine if appropriate subject matter criteria will apply to credit hours.
  • IL OT/COTA: 3.6 contact hours by Genesis Medical Center - Silvis Campus, Silvis, IL
  • IL PT/PTA: 3.6 contact hours by Genesis Medical Center - Silvis Campus, Silvis, IL

The Lifestyle Medicine Microcredential, offered through the SAU Institute for Person-Centered Care, prepares rehabilitation professionals to implement health and wellness programming into their practice.
