Epidemiology Microcredential
The Epidemiology Microcredential, offered through the Master of Public Health program, focuses on building either quantitative or qualitative skills to improve health and social services systems and programs via action-based-research.
This microcredential will enable those working within the field of health and human services to become stronger practitioners, policy makers, and researchers.

More Information About Epidemiology
Students earning a microcredential in epidemiology will learn population/public health concepts, how to evaluation/adapt evidence based interventions, and how to study interventions and practices to build the evidence base for population/public health.
Epidemiological studies will be designed and students will learn how to use statistical packages such as R and SPSS. They will also learn how to perform systematic reviews, meta-analysis and will practice writing results to disseminate the evidence via conferences, presentations, and/or peer-review scientific journals.
Every Microcredential offered by St. Ambrose University satisfies a certain set of skills or competencies. The Master of Public Health program is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
A sampling of skills that will be strengthened in the four classes include learning epidemiological skills including learning statistical or qualitative analysis computer packages, such as SPSS, R, NVivo, to better understand how to use data to solve public health problems and improve programs. Students will become certified in CITI ethics and will complete a systematic-literature review using PRISMA methods.

The Epidemiology Microcredential is taken for academic credit. As such, students pay the per-credit-hour tuition as set by the Master of Public Health (MPH) program that oversees this microcredential.
2023-24 MPH Tuition
$742/credit hour
The completion of four courses (3 credits each) is required for this microcredential.
Each course is 8-weeks in length and taken online asynchronously with optional weekend (online or in-person) tutorials for Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
These four classes cover three of the 22 foundational competencies for a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree.
