Celebrating the Galvins

05/02/2018

On Sunday, May 6, all those who were involved in any and all theatre productions at St. Ambrose will gather at Thunder Bay Grille in Davenport to celebrate a year of spectacular theatre, hard work, and friendship.

The Galvins are an annual event organized by the SAU Theatre Department Call-Board members at which awards are given for accomplishments ranging from the incredible amount of hard work and dedication put into a production, to props for the actor who had to drink an actual raw egg on stage.

"The Galvins are our chance as a department to come together and just plain have fun," said senior Kayla Lansing. "People should look forward to them because you get to walk back down memory lane for all the amazing, but often times ridiculous, things that happened this year. You get amazing food and dessert, plus a night where you can just kick back and relax with your closest friends. With all the hard work we put in, we deserve to celebrate!"

Between the great food, great people, and the excuse to get dressed up, the yearly award ceremony is something that seniors will miss in the years after graduation.

The Galvins 2018

"This being my last year for the Galvins is very bittersweet," Lansing said. "It has been such a highlight to my past four years here, and I just love getting to revel in the sense of community it creates. It's going to be surreal hearing my name announced with the seniors! I am looking forward to getting as many pictures as I can this year and spending some real quality time with my friends and professors. They have made my four years with SAU theatre absolutely amazing, and I couldn't ask for a better way to end my senior year!"

We thank Kayla for all the time she's put into planning this fun event and remind those invited that the Galvins will be held May 6 at the Thunder Bay Grille, starting at 6:15 p.m. and running until 9 p.m. Just remember, "It is a night all about celebrating all of the amazing theatre we made as a department this year! People should expect to have an AWESOME time!"

We hope to see you there!
