Associate Professor
Dr. Brown teaches introductory and advanced courses in chemistry, specializing in teaching organic chemistry and using active-learning in both the lecture and laboratory classroom.
Education and Training
- PhD, Boston College, Chemistry
- BS, Juniata College, Chemistry
I try to engage my students and ask them to think. I try to inspire students to seek out answers to questions and to never be afraid to ask questions. Nobody falls asleep in my classroom, as I am always running around and working closely with my students to help enable their learning. I am actively trying to be as far away from a traditional classroom as possible, so that my students are engaged and I can keep teaching/learning fun!

Research Interests
Dr. Brown is interested in helping students pursue asking questions without preordained answers in the laboratory, even in a classroom setting.
Currently, he is exploring how to develop modular synthetic strategies towards the development of carbazole centered ligands for metal sensing and catalysis.
