02/09/2021

Amy Novak EdD, current president of Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D., was introduced during a Feb. 8 press conference to the St. Ambrose community and the surrounding region as the 14th president of the university. She will take office in August.

Novak will succeed Sister Joan Lescinski, CSJ, PhD, who will retire from her role as the 13th president in St. Ambrose history, effective August 2021.

During the news conference, Novak said universities must be active leaders, collaborative partners, and incubators for economic growth for their community and beyond.

Stories Novak heard from students and residents during a recent tour illustrated St. Ambrose is deeply invested in strengthening its community, she said. "This is a university committed to its calling to be the hands, the feet, the touch, the voice, the compassion; the place that builds future leaders for a stronger, more vital world."
